One Pot Creamy Smoky Beefy Tomato-y Orzo Recipe

This is an easy one pot weeknight meal! This recipe features the Dakine Smoky Rub available in the Pantry section of our store. This is a really simple, creamy comforting dish that can be served with a baguette, roll or biscuit.

Creamy Smoky Beefy Tomato-y Orzo


  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion sliced thin
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo
  • 1 14oz can fire roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons DAKINE Smoky seasoning (or mesquite seasoning)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • Pinch of crushed red peppers
  • 6-8oz baby spinach

Brown beef over medium-high hear in extra virgin olive oil + season with salt and pepper. Once browned, remove fat drippings, then add the onion and garlic to the pot. Continue to cook over medium heat until onions are translucent. Stir in orzo, tomatoes, heavy cream, broth and seasonings. Bring to a simmer, turn heat down to low, cover and let simmer for about 12-15 minutes. Make sure to stir frequently! After 15 minutes, turn off the heat, uncover and stir in the spinach until wilted. Season to taste, then serve immediately.
